Veronica J. Williams

Veronica J. Williams is a high school Assistant Principal who decided to “Be the Change She Wanted to See”.

After watching her community cripple under poor leadership, and corruption for years, Veronica decided to run for Commissioner of Opa-Locka, Florida. Never having imagined she would not only win her seat, but get the most votes, launching her to be the newly elected Vice Mayor of the City of Opa-Locka.

Veronica is a member of Delta Sigma Theta, Sorority, Inc. Miami Alumnae Chapter. Veronica was the Chair of the Social Action Committee from 2016 – 2020.  As Chair, she initiated the “DST Rolls to the Polls” and the Chapters annual “Gun Buy Back”.

Veronica was the first to Chair the NAACP Miami-Dade Branch Young Adults Committee. Under her leadership the Miami-Dade Branch cultivated rising leaders that reengaged the branch back into the community.

She is an advocate that works to make change through her involvement on Social Justice issues, using her time to advocate for voting rights and reform, community organizing and activism.  It is her prayer that she will be a part of the change that will completely transform and revitalize her city. With her long-standing commitment to public service, social justice, and humble spirit, we know she will get the job done.
