Dear Professional Mentorship Leadership Program Applicant,

 

Congratulations on your decision to apply to the Women of Color Empowerment Institute Inc.'s (WOCEI) Professional Mentorship Leadership Program!

We are accepting applications for entry into the leadership program from professionals who are under the age of 40, and have leadership aspirations in any sector, including; academia, business, community service, law, healthcare, technology, civic and government. Up to ten (10) individuals will be selected to join the program. If selected, the cost of the program is $200 to cover a portion of your meals and materials. Payment must be received in full by Thursday, January 2, 2020. 

Before completing the application, please read the entire packet carefully in order to ensure that you do not have ANY conflicts with the dates listed for WOCEI leadership mentoring program activities.

ELGIBILITY

 

APPLICANTS MUST:

 

  • Show interest in holding a current leadership position in a professional and/or civic organization.

  • Demonstrate a commitment to improving the community through active volunteerism, and/or service.

  • Have an interest in furthering your knowledge about the WOCEI.

  • Commit to participation in the entire WOCEI leadership mentoring programing including: Retreat, Dinner Meetings, Community Service Project, Mentor Meetings in person and via video communication, and the annual Women of Color Empowerment Conference.

  • Attending all scheduled programming referenced in this material is mandatory.

 

APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS:

 

Complete the application and submit prior to Monday, November 18th, 2019 at 5:00 PM EST. Applications can be delivered via mail, courier service, or hand-delivery to: 401 NW 7th Avenue, Fort Lauderdale, Florida 33311.

 

 

SELECTION PROCESS:

 

All applications with be reviewed by the WOCEI Directors and Mentor Committee members.

 

All applicants will be notified of their application status by Monday, December 2, 2019.  All applicants must be available to attend a 4:30 meeting on December 17, 2019.

 

WOCEI is committed to cultural, geographical, racial, ethnic, professional and economic diversity and considered all applicants who have demonstrated leadership skills and talents.

 

MENTOR AND MENTEE COMMITMENTS:

 

  • Mentors and Mentees must commit to connecting in-person, by phone, or via video communication twice per month. Connecting more frequently on an informal basis is desired.

  • Program dinners are counted as a monthly contact.

  • Mentors and selected Mentee will determine topics they will cover, or what areas of professional development they will work on together based on the interest and goals of each participant. Some areas may include: enhancing communication skills, job/internship search strategies, community engagement, and networking.

  • Mentors shall commit to volunteering monthly at the Women of Color Empowerment Institute, Inc.
