Welcome to WOCEI's Professional Mentorship Leadership Program
Congratulations on your decision to apply to the Women of Color Empowerment Institute’s Professional Mentorship Leadership Program!
We are accepting applications for entry into the leadership program from young professionals (under the age of 40) who are individuals, including business leaders, professionals, academia, directors and staff persons of community service organizations, managers from governmental agencies and community activists. Up to 10 of these individuals will be selected to join the program.
Before beginning the application, please read the entire application packet carefully in order to ensure that you do not have any conflicts with the dates listed.

THE COST OF THE PROGRAM IS $200 TO COVER A PORTION OF YOUR MEALS AND
MATERIALS. PAYMENT MUST BE RECEIVED IN FULL BY JANUARY 8, 2024. IF THERE
IS A FINANCIAL HARDSHIP, A SCHOLARSHIP MAY BE AVAILABLE.

ELIGIBILITY
APPLICANTS MUST:
-
Show some interest in holding a current leadership position in a professional and/or civic organization.

Demonstrate a commitment to improving the community through active volunteerism and/or service.

Have an interest in furthering their knowledge about the WOCEI.

Commit to participation in the entire WOCEI the program – Orientation, known Dinner Meetings, Community Service Projects, and Program Graduation.
APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS:

Fill out the application and submit prior to Monday, January 8, 2024. All applications must be received by 5:00 p.m. on January 8, 2024. Applications can be given to any WOCEI Director or delivered via mail (wocempowerment@gmail.com), courier service or hand-delivery to 401 North Avenue of the Arts (401 NW 7th Avenue) Fort Lauderdale, FL 33311.

SELECTION PROCESS:

All applications will be reviewed by the WOCEI Directors, Mentor Committee Members.

All applicants will be notified of their application no later than January 31, 2024.

MENTOR AND MENTEE COMMITMENTS:

Mentors and Mentees must commit to connecting in-person, by phone, or via video communication twice per month. Connecting more frequently on an informal basis is desired.

Program dinners and attending events with mentors are counted as a monthly contact.

Mentors and the selected Mentee will determine topics that they will cover, or what areas of professional development they will work on together based on the interest and goals of each participant. Some areas may include: enhancing communication skills, job/internship search strategies, community engagement, and networking.

Mentees shall commit to volunteering monthly at the Women of Color Empowerment Institute, Inc.
